Method
- Step 1 – Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the warm milk, egg, and vegetable oil. Mix everything until a soft dough forms.
- Step 2 – Knead the Dough
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Step 3 – Let the Dough Rise
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Step 4 – Roll the Dough
- After rising, roll the dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick using a rolling pin.
- Step 5 – Add the Filling
- Spread the vegetable oil evenly across the dough surface. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the dough.
- Step 6 – Shape the Rolls
- Roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 8 equal pieces using a knife or dough scraper.
- Step 7 – Second Rise
- Place the rolls into a parchment-lined baking dish. Cover and let them rest for about 20 minutes.
- Step 8 – Bake
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the rolls for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Step 9 – Add Glaze (Optional)
- Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
Notes
Using vegetable oil instead of butter keeps the rolls soft while making them lighter.
For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom to the filling.
These cinnamon rolls taste best when served warm with coffee or tea.
