Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries plus extra for garnish
  • 4 oz silver tequila
  • 2 oz orange liqueur Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz agave syrup or simple syrup adjust to taste
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Coarse salt or Tajín for rimming the glass
  • Lime wedge for rimming
  • Fresh mint or lime wheel for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Fine mesh strainer (optional for a smoother drink)
  • Citrus juicer
  • Margarita or rocks glasses
  • Small plate for salt or sugar rim
  • Ice cubes

Method
 

  1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass.
  2. Dip the rim into coarse salt or Tajín.
  3. Add fresh blackberries to a cocktail shaker.
  4. Muddle until the berries release their juice.
  5. Pour in tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup.
  6. Fill the shaker with ice.
  7. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds.
  8. Fill the prepared glasses with fresh ice.
  9. Strain the cocktail into the glasses. For a smoother texture, use a fine mesh strainer.
  10. Garnish with fresh blackberries, a lime wheel, or mint sprig.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

Frozen blackberries work well when fresh berries aren't available.
Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less agave syrup.
Use freshly squeezed lime juice for the best flavor.
Chill the glasses before serving for a restaurant-style presentation.
Add a splash of sparkling water for a lighter version.
